I looked back at the earlier NF.com posts and watched a little microcosm of the last eight months or so.  Suffice to say that since reporting we were on track to make some real changes, we fell off track… and now we’re back on track, again, for some meaningful NeoFrugal posts.

NeoFrugal Notebook exists for a couple of reasons.  The primary reason is that I feel my life and education poorly prepared me to own and operate money, and I’m not content with the result, and I want my kids to be better prepared than I was.  So this weblog exists as an owner’s manual, or operating instructions, for money.  I also discovered, as I began to rebuild from the fallout of my lack of fiduciary skillz, that much of your success and happiness comes from just knowing your definition of success and happiness.  So NeoFrugal is also about understanding your real values and how your decisions support or erode those values.

Currently, I foresee Family, Food, and Finances as likely categories.  We’re currently homeschooling a six-year old; there’s a three-year-old boy behind him and a three-month-old girl behind him.  My wife and I are making a concerted effort to improve our family diet.  We’re starting over financially due to our own decisions and preparations.  NeoFrugal Notebook is a document of what we try, learn, and experience while overhauling our concepts of money and value.
